We are lucky to have incredible schools across Hotham, filled with passionate teachers, dedicated staff, engaged families and, most importantly, wonderful students.

Some of my favourite moments as the Federal Member for Hotham is spent visiting  our local schools. Whether it's celebrating at graduation assemblies, chatting with politics classes, announcing federal funding or enjoying the buzz of a school fete with my own kids.

My office and I keep our schools informed about funding opportunities, grants and initiatives from the Australian Government. From infrastructure upgrades to student programs, I’m committed to ensuring every school in Hotham (and student!) has access to the resources they need.

Programs I run for schools:

Community Spirit and Leadership awards

Each year, I host my annual Community Spirit and Leadership awards. Schools across Hotham - primary and secondary - choose a leader to recognise and their stories are always inspiring.

From shaving hair for cancer, planting micro forests and helping at farmers markets, to becoming a horticultural expert and performing despite illness, these students share common values: kindness, courage and a drive to make a difference.

Graduation certificates

I love to celebrate our students' successes, including graduations. Each year, I send each graduating student - whether that's Grade 6 or Year 12 - a graduation certificate.

Christmas card competition

The Hotham Christmas Card Competition is a favourite tradition! Each year, primary school students across Hotham submit festive artwork for a chance to feature on our official Christmas card sent to households across the electorate. The winning design appears on the front, with three runners-up showcased on the back.

School Leavers' Pack

Graduating secondary is a huge achievement for our Hotham students, but it often coincides with turning 18 and becoming an adult. I sent a school leavers’ pack called ‘Stuff you should know’ to graduating students. It’s a great resource that outlines all the government services for young people and guides them through this next stage.
