The electorate of Hotham is in Melbourne's south east and is home to almost 200,000 people.
Hotham is one of the most diverse electorates in Australia, with more than 50 per cent of residents born overseas. In fact, more than 55 percent of our local population speak a language other than English at home, with Vietnamese, Mandarin and Greek being the most common – alongside languages like Khmer, Cantonese, Punjabi, Hindi and Italian adding to the vibrant mix that fills Hotham’s bustling streets.
It’s an area that inspires and energises me daily as a true melting pot of cultures, a bustling hub for small businesses, a dependable place for manufacturing, an education haven nurturing our students, a dream destination for those who’ve recently called it home, and a testament to the generations who built it.
NEW The Australian Electoral Commission has finalised the new boundaries for Hotham (below). This means that, at the next election, we’ll sadly say goodbye to some constituents, while also welcoming others – and saying hello again to some familiar faces. Learn more at the AEC website.
