I'm one of a lucky few MPs to represent an electorate with thriving research and manufacturing precincts - including the CSIRO lab here in Clayton.
On Tuesday I had the opportunity to meet with some of the researchers there and get a closer look at the cutting edge research that takes place right here in my own electorate.
The lab you can see here is the CSIRO's Centre for Industrial Flow Chemistry. Flow chemistry processing is a proven, safe, efficient, cost-saving, and reliable alternative to conventional batch chemical processing. This state-of- the-art new facility provides Australian and international chemical manufacturers access to CSIRO’s cutting edge flow chemistry technology, and a new approach to sustainable chemical manufacturing.
This is the Rapid Automated Materials and Processing Centre which is a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to accelerating the development of new advanced materials and processes. This research enables the discovery of materials for use in various industries, contributing to significant savings in product design and optimisation.
This is some of the best science and innovation Australia has to offer, and it's right here in my electorate. If you want to learn more about the RAMP Centre and see a video of this incredible research in motion, visit https://www.csiro.au/…/R…/MF/Areas/Chemicals-and-fibres/RAMP.
The Lego scientists are pretty neat too.
These are just some ways that science and technology is rapidly changing the way we live and work. Thanks again to the CSIRO in Clayton for giving me a glimpse into this fascinating research!
