It's ATAR Day
December 14, 2018
Today, I want to put politics aside and take a moment to think about our young people, particularly the year 12 students who will be getting their ATAR scores.
I know most of you wouldn't have got much sleep last night thinking about it. But remember, whatever your score, it doesn't define who you are or your future. Life will go on, the sun will still come up, your family will still love you and your friends will too.
To those who achieved their goal, well done.
To those who might have fallen short, it's okay. There are many different paths you can take to get where you want to go. You're young and you live in a great country full of opportunities.
No matter what score you got, you should be proud of yourself. You should be proud of the work you put in all year, especially in the past few months. You should be proud of juggling sport, music, part-time work, friendships, family and other commitments alongside your studies. You should be proud of every sacrifice you made and the commitment you showed to your studies.
Now all you have to do is enjoy some time off with your friends and family over the festive period and chuck a year's worth of notes in the bin.
Well done, good luck and stay safe in your celebrations.
