Local residents celebrating a special birthday or anniversary can receive personal congratulations from the Prime Minister, Governor-General or The Queen.
Who is eligible for a congratulatory message?
- For a 50th wedding anniversary, you are eligible to receive a letter from the Prime Minister, the Opposition Leader and the Governor-General.
- For a 60th wedding anniversary (and every five years after that), letters are available from the Prime Minister, the Opposition Leader, the Governor-General and the Queen.
- For a 90th birthday, Australians are eligible to receive a letter from the Prime Minister and the Opposition Leader.
- For a 100th birthday, Australian are eligible to receive a letter from the Queen (and on request every five years after that), from the Governor-General and the Prime minister (and on request every year after that).
How do you arrange a message?
You can make arrangements for anniversary messages up to two months before the celebration. You can request a belated message up to one month after the birthday or wedding anniversary has passed.
In order to process this request, please provide a copy of either the marriage or wedding certificate, or a statutory declaration stating the date of the occasion.
